Privilege

Our Precious Privilege of Prayer

Denis Martindale September 2016.

The privilege of holy prayer
Commends us to believe,
Rewarding us each time we share
With what we then receive.
For those who pray, sit, stand or kneel,
Lift up their hearts and more,
By faith in Christ who came to heal,
Such prayers are heard for sure.
So ask… seek… knock… and intercede,
In Jesus Name, my friends,
That God will answer every need
With love that never ends!
For revelation comes each day,
Like sunshine and like rain,
To grant us power on our way
If truly born again.
So preach the Good News while you can,
That’s what you’re here to do,
So that you help your fellow man,
I’m praying, GOD BLESS YOU!

Our staff spent the weekend in Santo Domingo together. Kamanda, Sarah, and I were able to attend a woman’s conference at Iglesia Bautista Internacional. The theme was The Joy of the Lord is My Strength. I was challenged to shift my thought process about a couple of areas in my life and seek out joy in the journey. The theme of seeking joy led me to think about privilege.

Have you ever considered what privilege we have as followers of Jesus? We have the privilege of choosing to have a relationship with the God of the universe, the creator, the redeemer. We have the privilege of reading scripture. We have the privilege of knowing that our life was given to us by Him and that we are here for a purpose, His purpose. There are so many people in today’s world wandering around seeking their purpose. We have the privilege of already knowing ours, service to Our God.

Some people refer to following Jesus as a sacrifice, but I do not believe that it is. Some people view our family living in the Dominican Republic as a sacrifice, but I disagree with that statement as well. It is a privilege! We have learned SO many things here. We have SERVED in so many ways here. We have BEEN BLESSED in so many ways here. We HAVE friends from so many different places. We will NEVER be the same. Those are all privileges that I will never view as a sacrifice.  Joy. Strength from the Lord. Privilege. Prayer.

We have had the privilege of serving with several teams over the past few weeks and we look forward to continuing joyfully serving the Lord!

Prayer requests:

  1. Pray that we carry out the theme of our conference, finding joy in the strength of the Lord.
  2. Pray for the Canario family as they mourn the loss of Dolores.
  3. Pray for discernment in decision making processes.
  4. Pray for Jason’s health. He has had some odd facial swelling recently and severe allergy attacks. He has started a medication regimen and we are hopeful that it will be controlled.
  5. Pray for us throughout the holiday season.
